Getting access
The index is being assembled and is not generally available. Access is arranged one customer at a time, which is not a scarcity tactic — it is that the useful shape of an export depends entirely on what you are trying to measure, and nobody has built the self-service version of that question yet.
What it covers
- Vehicle listings advertised across Australia's major marketplaces — cars and motorbikes as peer categories, including the auction and disposal houses most datasets omit.
- Asking price, listing metadata, location, and the listing's own behaviour over time: price changes, days advertised, and when it disappeared.
- Normalised onto one schema, so a make and model mean the same thing across sources.
What it is not
- Not transacted prices. This measures what was asked, not what was paid, and it is described that way everywhere rather than blurred into "market value".
- Not a complete census of every source yet. Coverage is measured per source and reported honestly; a slice with thin coverage is named as thin rather than averaged into a headline.
- Not personal data. Listings, not the people who post them.
