Don’t fish in a tank when you belong in the ocean.

Every marketplace shows you what is inside its own walls. RideRadar reads all of them directly, every day, and keeps the result.

Advertised inventory across the sources in the index, as at 19 August 2026. The last two are marketplace counts, not inventory splits. 6 sources carry both categories, and the registry holds one advertised figure per source, so a cars-vs-motorbikes split cannot be derived from it without double-counting those 6. Advertised, not transacted.

Why this is different from the data you can already buy

Australia has never had an independent, continuously measured record of what vehicles are advertised for, by whom, and for how long. The marketplaces hold the data and do not publish it; the valuation industry infers it from transactions it can see a fraction of.

Coverage, not a sample

Every major marketplace, cars and motorbikes, read directly rather than bought from an aggregator. That includes the auction and disposal houses that most datasets omit.

Time series, not a snapshot

A listing's price changes and days-on-market are the interesting part. Those only exist if you were already watching, which is why the index runs continuously rather than on demand.

Normalised across sources

Marketplaces disagree about make, model, variant and body. Reconciling them onto one schema is most of the work and the reason cross-source comparison is possible at all.

Advertised, not transacted

This measures asking prices and listing behaviour. It is not a record of sale prices, and it is described that way everywhere rather than blurred into "market value".

Early access

The dataset is being assembled now and is not yet generally available. If you work in valuation, lending, insurance, fleet, or research and want to talk about what you would need from it, that conversation is genuinely useful this early.
